Hey all, I’ve been on a little hiatus from blogging the last couple of weeks. For good or for worse, I’ve started playing a lot of poker again, and it’s been taking up a lot of my time. Anyhow, my team didn’t travel down to the Amateur Team East last weekend because a few of […]

I recently played in the Liberty Bell Open which was held over Martin Luther King Weekend in Philadelphia. IM David Vigorito and I headed down Thursday afternoon to Philly, in what was an uneventful drive down. Unfortunately, we had booked the room a little too late and when we made the reservation they said they […]

The US Chess League Game of the Year Contest is going on right now, and lots of USCL fans are blogging their predictions and opinions about the games. Since I was an avid fan during the year myself, I figured why not make my own predictions!?!? If you want to take a look at all […]

Chess fans around the country have started to chant: Kamsky!, Kamsky!, Kamsky! Ok, maybe they haven’t, but I have! Gata Kamsky just defeated his greatest challenge yet, Ruslan Ponomariov, to move on to the semi-finals where he will be facing Darth Vad… I mean Magnus Carlsen. Speaking of Magnus, my Cheparinov upset prediction over Carlsen […]

The USCL Semi-Final between Boston Blitz and New York Knights is tonight, and I’m definitely looking forward to the games. There has been lots of live chess action lately with the Tal Memorial and European Championship both being broadcasted on ICC. But all these Super GM tournaments pale in comparison to USCL action!
I expect […]

The word on the street is IM David Pruess has just recently earned his 2nd GM norm with 7/9 in a tournament in France. Josh Friedel had a solid performance with 6.5/9, which was just shy of the norm. I guess the two of them are traveling Europe for norms this month, as Josh just […]

I was fortunate enough to catch the tail end of the match on ICC Wednesday evening. When I got home, Chrissy Bear had already won on board 4 and Larry Christiansen was destroying the rusty GM Patrick Wolff. I ended up spending most of my time watching the Bhat-Kelleher game. When I first looked at […]
