Strengths: Pat is a very good attacking player. If he gets the initative, watch out!

Weaknesses: When Pat fails to get an attack, or the game is just positional in nature, Pat tends to struggle. His openings are prepared fairly well, but he'll have trouble progressing with them since they are 2nd rate (Alekhine/Dutch with black) He's also not very consistent, due to his high fluctuation style.

Amusing Story:

In the first round at the 2007 New England Open, Pat arrived 45 minutes late (there was an accident on the highway), and was paired with the #1 seeded player, GM Alexander Ivanov. True to form, Pat played his trusty Alekhine Defense and Ivanov responded with a rare line (an early g3). Pat managed to somehow outplay Ivanov and win the game, breaking open the whole tournament. This upset victory over Ivanov helped me get 1st place in the tournament. I still owe Pat a beer.

Reason for this song choice:
Pat always plays the most aggressive move he can find, whether it's good or bad. If you are playing him, be ready for a wild ride!
