How to remove the Google Redirect Virus

I recently got the Google redirect virus on my laptop. No anti-virus / anti-spyware program I found solved the problem. Neither did manually deleting entries with Hijackthis. Eventually I found a really easy solution that worked to fix the redirect virus. I simply went here:
